The men’s 200 butterfly final will start the night. Hungary’s Kristof Milak enters as the top seed after swimming a 1:54.64 in semifinals. The World Record holder is searching for his 2nd title of this week after already winning the 100 butterfly. Milak will have the Chmielewski brothers from Poland on both sides of him as they search for Poland’s first gold of the meet. Krzysztof won silver last year at the 2023 World Championships.
Croatia’s Jana Pavalic enters the 50 free final as the top seed after posting a 24.67 yesterday to break her own national record as well as earn the Paris ‘A’ cut. Pavalic’s biggest challenger tonight looks to be Petra Senanszky of Hungary who swam a 24.71 last night. Senanszky is the Hungarian national record holder in the event.
The men’s 50 breaststroke has been through many official reviews already with numerous DQs. Huseyin Emre Sakci of Turkey will look to win the country’s first ever European title tonight as he comes in as the top seed with a 26.93. Sakci will also be in the 50 free later in the session.
Isarel’s Anastasia Gorbenko looks to sweep the IM events here in Serbia after already winning the 400 IM this week. Gorbenko comes in the final of the 200 IM after swimming a 2:11.61. Her best time stands at a 2:08.55 that she swam last month at the Mare Nostrum series. Tamara Potocka of Slovakia posted a best time and national record and enters as the #2 seed with a 2:12.42.
As previously mentioned, Sakci will take on the 50 free about 15 minutes after the 50 breast. Sakci is the #3 seed after swimming a 22.09 this morning. Ireland’s Shane Ryan posted a new Irish Record to lead prelims in a 21.82.
Veera Kivirinta of Finland posted the top time of prelims in the women’s 50 breast in a 30.58. Portugal’s Ana Rodrigues was the only other swimmer under the 31-second mark this morning as she swam a 30.90.
Mykhailo Romanchuk of Ukraine already won the 800 freestyle this week in a season best and looks to capture gold in the 1500 free as well as he comes in as the top seed with a 15:01.20. Turkey’s Kuzey Tuncelli is the #2 seed with a 15:01.53.
Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Jakabos posted the top time of prelims in the women’s 200 fly with a 2:08.53. Helena Bach of Denmark had the 2nd fastest swim of the morning with a 2:09.39.
After opting for the 200 IM over the men’s 100 back, Hubert Kos of Hungary led the way this morning in a 1:58.75. He currently sits at #21 in the world this season with a 1:57.88 from the December US Open. Hungarian teammate Dominik Torok will look to lead the first semifinal after a 1:59.11 this morning.
Belgium’s Roos Vanotterdijk won the women’s 100 fly last night in a new national record before swimming to the top seed of the 100 backstroke in a 1:00.42. Tonight, she looks to challenge her national record of a 59.62. Ireland’s Danielle Hill enters as the #2 seed with a 1:00.52 and already won the 50 back this week.
Poland led the morning in the men’s 100 back as Kacper Stokowski swam a 54.04 and Ksawery Masiuk swam a 54.28. They will search for the podium tomorrow night.
