In the finals of the women’s 200 breaststroke at the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials, Kate Douglass re-broke her own U.S. qualifying meet championship record, clocking a time of 2:19.46. The previous record was a time of 2:19.66 set by Douglass in prelims, and the previous pre-meet record was a time of 2:20.38 from Rebecca Soni back in 2009.
Douglass finished first in her race by 2.47 seconds, qualifying for her second individual event of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after doing so in the 100 free Wednesday night. She was just 0.16 seconds off of her American record time set in January 2024.

Douglass was ahead of American record pace for the first 150 meters of her race, and was even out in a blistering 1:06.93. However, her final 50 meters of the race were0 0.32 seconds slower.
The only remaining events left on Douglass’s trials schedule are the 200 IM and the 50 free, though she has alluded to multiple times in the past that she would not be swimming the 50 free at trials.
